480

2002

480 is the photographic project I gave myself to mark my fortieth birthday. A selection of the 4 types of photography that I most use in my work: nudes, landscape, portraiture and flowers. In this case, the subjects were people within my close circle of friends, who had recently turned 40 like me. For the flower pictures I searched for anonymous flowers, not the familiar blooms we are used to seeing in florists. I soon became aware of the great wonder that is so easy to miss whenever we walk in the countryside. The nudes gave me the bare simplicity of the human figure shrouded in darkness, the purest part of us. The landscapes are my landscapes. I chose those places where I most feel at home, where I’ve had many experiences which I can then communicate though my pictures.
